Consortium Research Fellow Nyawira Mwangi recently co-ordinated a public engagement day on the theme of “Beat Diabetes”. The activity was held at the Kenya Medical Training College on the 7th April 2016, and was linked to her PhD research on diabetic retinopathy. The event involved three tiers:
- A sensitization walk, to sensitize the public on diabetes
- Free screening for the public for diabetes and its complications
- An academic symposium on diabetes, open to academic and non-academic participants
