In a global collaboration led by the International Centre for Eye Health at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, the Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness (RAAB) methodology, a survey methodology now used over 180 times in more than 70 countries is being upgraded to allow smartphone data entry with in-built validation checks, incorporation of Peek Vision tests, cloud-based automated (real-time) data analysis and reporting with new visualisation to inform better health service planning.
Peek Vision and the Commonwealth Eye Health Consortium are working with multiple partners to help further understand how to utilise RAAB to ensure it supports eye care planning and delivery. The first phase (known as mRAAB) is complete and data entry is now available direct to a smartphone or tablet and has been used successfully in six countries so far. We anticipate the new fully integrated system to be available in 2018 and RAAB and mRAAB continues to be supported.
